Today is the anniversary of the start of the Falkland Islands War or ‘la guerra de las Malvinas’. The 2nd of April 1982 marks the day that the military government under General Galtieri decided to retake the islands with an ill-thought out invasion.
Argentine president Cristina Fernández de Kirchner is still to announce that she will be standing again in the national elections on October 23rd but behind the scenes her election campaign is gathering momentum. Following the death of her husband Néstor Kirchner, it has been widely expected that she will run for a second term in office but she is still to make her intentions known in public.

Mr Brainwash, the actor in Banksy’s film Exit Through the Gift Shop, has painted two new stencils along Sunset Boulevard in LA. The artworks appeared just before the Oscars ceremony during which Banksy’s movie lost out in the category of best documentary feature. Continue reading
Georgina Ciotti unveiled her latest artwork last night painted on the facade of Cultivarte, the bar and theatre space in Palermo Soho. The mural is named “Olivia” after the daughter of a friend of Georgina’s who nearly drowned but fortunately survived and depicts gods of protection. It took her a month to complete working an average of five hours a day under lamplight after dark.

New artworks by Banksy in Los Angeles have been causing quite a stir ahead of the Oscars on Sunday in which his movie ‘Exit Through the Gift Shop’ has been nominated for best documentary.
Mural by Anchu and Mondo Lila was painted not long after the famous farming crisis and the row between Cristina Fernández de Kirchner and El Campo. The monster appears to signify the government who is robbing money (milk) from the farmers (cows).
Paco is the cheap killer drug that is wrecking the lives of thousands of youngsters with an estimated 180,000 users in Argentina. Referred to as ‘the drug of the poor’ as it costs just a few pesos a hit, paco has become an epidemic that is sweeping through the slums of Buenos Aires and is now affecting the middle classes and adult population.
