Banksy has dozens of stencils on the streets of London which are still intact. One of the best ways to recognise or find a Banksy is if it’s covered in perspex. Here are a few classic Banksy artworks that Buenos Aires Street Art photographed around Shoreditch and Notting Hill.
This Banksy mural is known as The Painter, The Graffiti Artist or Velazquez and is located on Acklam Road outside Prima Cafe just off the bottom of Portobello Road, Notting Hill. It depicts an an artist thought to be Spanish oil painter Diego Velazquez creating a red graffiti tag of Banksy’s name.
Banksy’s Balloon Girl is one of his most popular and recognisable artworks that can be seen at the top end of Portobello Road under a road sign with the same name.
You can find Banksy’s Scrabble artwork with the message “Made you look” at the top of Portobello Road. If walking from Notting Hill Gate down Portobello Road, you can see it on the left hand side after passing Sun in Splendour pub. The artwork is also juxtaposed with a CCTV camera that often feature next to some of his famous stencils relating to government surveillance.
This stencil of a policeman with a dog and the message: “This wall is a designated graffiti area” is located at Cargo nightclub in Shoreditch.
Banksy’s artwork called His Master’s Voice shows a white dog pointing a bazooka towards an old gramophone machine. This one can also be found at Cargo.
This pink Triumph GT6 was painted by Banksy in 2004 in a parking lot off Brick Lane. The car used to have a skeleton driver painted on one of the windows but it’s since been removed.
Other works by Banksy, including this girl with a gas mask along Brick Lane, aren’t in such good condition.
