Street artists have been painting new murals at Barrio Parque Belgrano in the city of Salta in northern Argentina. Photos by BA Street Art.
So far artists have completed no less than nine murals on the facades of four-storey buildings in the Parque General Belgrano complex with the idea of brightening up the area and bringing colour and creativity to the neighbourhood.
The project entitled ‘Distrito de Murales’ has been sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in Salta and is being curated and organised by local street artist Martin Cordóba.
Córdoba along with Julien Guinet are two of the pioneers of the street art scene in Salta starting to paint walls in public spaces more than 10 years ago. While Guinet has since returned to his native France, Córdoba continues to be active curating street art festivals and organising mural projects.
The local government in Salta has been inviting street artists to apply to paint a mural at Parque Belgrano. The winning applicant or team will receive $50.000 pesos towards the cost of the mural. More information on Salta government website.
