Segatori, who is well known for painting his Guinness World Record breaking mural in Buenos Aires that measures more than 3500m2, was invited by City of Ettelbruck in September to travel to Luxembourg to paint a mural that features a hyper-realistic cow peering out of a window.

Ettelbruck is well-known for its walking trails around the rolling countryside and its famous annual agricultural fair celebrating rural life that includes cow competitions as well as exhibitions of local produce, tractors and other farm machinery.

Segatori explained what the title of the mural ‘La vaca que se fue volando de San Francisco llegó a Luxemburgo’ (or in English: ‘The cow that went flying from San Francisco has arrived in Luxembourg’) means. He said: “It refers to a 40 metres high mural featuring giant cows that I painted on silos in San Francisco, Córdoba, Argentina. This popular saying in Argentina is often used to refer to something impossible like ‘this will happen the day that the cows fly’.”

And Segatori’s new artwork pays tribute to those traditions with a friendly cow greeting passers-by surrounded by native flowers. He created the mural using both spray cans and brushes.

The mural project was organised and curated by Nathalie Ney from Ville d’Ettelbruck with help from Matt Fox-Tucker of Buenos Aires Street Art, and was sponsored by the local government. Since 2017, City of Ettlebruck has sponsored more than 40 murals around the city painted by local and international street artists helping to turn the city into one of the best places to see street art in Luxembourg.
