Fishing for a home: mural by Corona and Jade

Corona and Jade have painted a new mural with a theme highlighting the issue of homelessness that is particularly common in the neighbourhood of Constitución where Corona lives.

Housing appeal

Corona and Jade’s design features five seabirds diving into the ocean and fishing trawlers searching not for fish but houses.

Homeward bound

“We thought about this a lot,” explained Corona. “The theme is that the birds are diving into the sea but it’s a sea of houses, something that they are fishing for. The meaning is all about the situation in the neighbourhood. There are lots of houses that have been taken over by Paraguayans, Peruvians and people from all sorts of of different places.”

Corona added: There is a big movement of homeless people in the neighbourhood who then occupy a place. The mural represents the scene or the image of the birds catching a house like it’s a fish. It’s about the desperation of human beings needing a roof above their heads.”

Home to roost

Together with Entes and Pesimo, Corona has also painted another brilliant mural with a similar theme.
