The trio of rat, cat and dog is a variation of a theme by Argentine stencil artist Tanque Stencil that can be found all over Buenos Aires.
We photographed these designs along Clay street in Las Cañitas and in Plaza Miserere. The artist TNQ told BA Street Art the thinking behind his designs: “The idea is to make people think, make the children happy and surprise people and also to carry a message, change the shape of the city and have some fun.

“For example, when the kids see these painted animals, they’re surprised and they really like it. On the other hand, the adults are already thinking: ‘why did the artist do it and what does it mean?’ I get a lot of satisfaction when the people think about what I’ve done.”
