Three brilliant murals painted by Emy Mariani, Martin Ron and Lean Frizzera painted at Meeting of Styles last year were covered over by political graffiti last week. The designs at the junction of Avenida Libertador and Dorrego in Palermo took the artists three days to paint last November when Buenos Aires hosted its first international street art festival.

The name of the PRO party delegate Cristian Ritondo and white paint now covers the designs. Ritondo’s aides have denied that the political slogans were painted by his militant supporters. “It has caught our attention,” a spokesman for Ritondo told Clarín newspaper today. “In this moment we don’t have any team doing this sort of painting nor even is it the zone that we move in daily. Our groups are formed by young people who dedicate themselves to street art…”

It´s natural. It´s the law of the street since…well…ever! And that´s the beauty of the “street art”, it´s ephemeral. If you want to last in time…paint on canvas!
