Roa, Defo, Jen Zie, Martin Ron, and Pichi & Avo have finished new designs at the North West Walls project on the site of the Rock Werchter music festival in Belgium. The project has been curated by Belgian artist Arne Quinze setting the artists the challenge of painting three giant container towers.
Ernest Zacharevic has painted some beautiful murals in George Town, the state capital of Penang in Malaysia. The Lithuanian street artist visited Penang in 2012 and has been back and forth to paint more than a dozen murals as part of the Mirrors George Town project. Matt from BA Street Art was in Penang and discovered how George Town is now on the map as much for its street art as for its colonial architecture and being a World Heritage Site.
Wynwood Walls 2013 took place this week during Art Basel Miami with the theme “Women on the Walls”. The mural project featured contributions by top female artists including Faith 47 from South Africa and Kashink from Paris who were commissioned by Goldman Properties to paint new artworks in the Wynwood Arts District. More than 100 artists took part in the IBUg Urban Culture Festivalin Zwickau, Germany. BA Street Art was there and we photographed some of the great new artworks inside and outside an abandoned iron factory. Street artists from Argentina at IBUg , Mexico, the USA and China were also taking part.
